Testimonials

"Jacinta is a great facilitator. She is very knowledgable. Her teaching is very functional and holistic and she helps us to build connection between theory and practical (e.g. drawing the connection between the anatomy and mechanical process with the recommendation or concerns)."

- W. Ho (feedback after completing Comprehensive Dysphagia assessment training)

"The content of the workshops was a great refresher for dysphagia, particularly assessment and obtaining case study information. Where this workshop differed to other refresher/ information-based courses I have attended is the practical component (role playing and scripting), discussions (collaborative problem solving) and applying in practice.

The scripting of the information to explain processes to clients, families, ESL families, carers and support workers has been extremely helpful. Jacinta provided feedback on every word and the deliverance of the script which brought our attention to the importance of deliverance and ensuring our clients and families feel safe and supported with a trusted and confident professional.

The peer learning and problem-solving component was extremely useful and I have learnt a lot through my peers. The opportunities to discuss specific case studies from our caseloads, watch videos of our clients, provide input on observations and read over reports has been invaluable. This is the peer professional development and liaison that should be utilised in our company that has so many amazing professionals who seldom have the opportunity to discuss our clients in a forum like this and support our confidence in decision making and recommendations when it has been confirmed by peers/ other professionals with various expertise, backgrounds and experiences.

I would choose this style of learning over an external PD opportunity. I believe this workshop would be most beneficial for early career clinicians.

Intervention workshop(s) would be a great way to build on our clinical skills and reduce the need for referral/ allow development to support other clinicians in the organisation to develop these skills. This has been identified as the predominant area of need in our supervision groups. This would be extremely beneficial (particularly for clinicians who are at least 2 years into their profession, specific to disability) in a peer supervision environment/ workshop as we will be able to utilise case studies and the group problem solving approaches to recommending specific interventions and strategies.

Thank you Jacinta, it was a great experience and hoping to learn from you more in the future."

- G. O'Neil (feedback after completing Comprehensive Dysphagia assessment training)
